The Gabo Foundation, Bancolombia, CAF — Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean and the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá are now accepting applications for the workshop for the workshop “The Essay — By The Ideas Letter”, which will take place on Saturday, July 25, 2026, as part of the 14th Gabo Festival in Bogotá, Colombia. This workshop is held in partnership with The Ideas Letter and the Open Society Foundations. The session will be led by Ideas Letter editors Jordana Timerman (Argentina), Stéphanie Giry (France), and Sam Dresser (United States of America).

This year, the 14th Gabo Festival returns to Bogotá from July 24 to 26 under the concept “Aquí estamos, aquí contamos,” as an affirmation of permanence and cultural resistance. Recognizing the uniqueness of a region that has developed its own ways of narrating the world, this edition aims to assert Latin identity with pride, sustain the journalistic craft amid its tensions, and continue finding in culture a way to claim our region’s right to a hopeful future.
